Becoming a Behavioral Health Clinician to Advance Primary Care

3-day intensive event for behavioral health clinicians (BHCs)
August 15-17, 2019 from 8:00am to 5:00pm each day

Primary care clinics are integrating BHCs as essential primary care team members.

As an emerging primary care role, BHCs often need additional training & a new practice community.

  • Provides BHCs an overview of primary care behavioral health skills & competencies 
  • Provides specific BHC training options to BH & medical directors to support on-boarding BHCs
  • Facilitates the development of primary care BHC practice community in Oregon

August 15 : Becoming a Primary Care Team Member

➣Primary Care Behavioral Health & Collaborative Care models
➣BHC model adherence
➣15-30 minute visit procedure with role-play practice

August 16 : Becoming Knowledgeable about Medical Concerns & Practice
➣Importance of shared team space
➣Documenting in a medical record
➣Review of systems, problems, and biopsychosocial assessment/treatment

August 17 : Becoming a Behavioral Health Generalist for Primary Care Practice
➣Pediatrics
➣Adults & Older Adults
➣Psychopharmacology review
